What Pace is
Pace is an Apple Watch speedometer. It shows how fast you are moving, in miles per hour, and keeps a history of each run's top speed. It runs on the watch. There is no account to create with the developer.
Data that stays in your Apple services
Pace does not send location, health, or run history to the developer, and it does not use advertising or analytics. The information below stays in Apple services that belong to the Apple Account on the watch:
- Location. The watch GPS is used on the watch to show speed and to build the route of a run. Pace asks for location access while you are using the app.
- Health. When you end a run, Pace saves an outdoor run in the Health app on that watch. The workout includes distance, the GPS route, and the top speed (stored as workout metadata under the key
com.familyitguy.pace.maxSpeedMPS, in meters per second). Pace can read workouts it saved so History can be rebuilt on a watch. It does not read other apps' workouts. - iCloud. A short record of each run (when it started and ended, top speed, distance, and the Health workout id) is stored with SwiftData in your private iCloud database, container
iCloud.com.familyitguy.pace. That database is yours. The developer cannot open it. It exists so a later watch signed into the same iCloud account can show the same history.
If iCloud is unavailable, the history still stays on the watch, and the run is still saved in Health when Health access is allowed.
App Store privacy label
Pace's privacy manifest declares no tracking and no data collected by the app. In App Store Connect the matching answer is Data Not Collected: nothing is transmitted to the developer or to a third-party service the developer operates. Health and private iCloud are Apple services under your account.
Children
Pace can be used by a child on an Apple Watch set up for them (Apple Watch For Your Kids, formerly Family Setup). The developer does not collect personal information from children. Downloads on a child's watch can require a parent's approval through Ask to Buy. Health data and iCloud data for that watch belong to the Apple Account on the watch, which a parent manages.
How to delete a run
Open History in Pace and delete the run. That removes it from the watch, asks Health to delete that workout and its route on the watch, and syncs the deletion through your private iCloud when iCloud is available. You can also delete the workout in the Health app. Deleting Pace removes the app. Workouts already saved in Health remain until you delete them there.
Support
Pace is a speedometer, not a medical device. Speed comes from GPS and can be wrong under trees, between buildings, or indoors.
Questions and privacy requests can be raised via the App Store listing's support link.
